OBEC Cease of Operations

Dear OBEC Supporters:

In late 2015, Dr. Phyllis Hudecki announced that she would retire as Executive Director of OBEC at the end of FY 2016.  After careful consideration, the Board of Directors made the difficult decision to close the organization and cease operations as of June 30, 2016.

While our work is far from finished, we believe that the partnerships OBEC has created and the focus on improving our common education system will be carried forward by a number of significant organizations including our area Chambers of Commerce, organizations like Stand for Children, and the generous philanthropic community dedicated to improving our schools.

All supporters of education reform must stay in the game. We encourage you to please continue to look for ways to ensure that we have a good teacher in every classroom, a strong leader in every school, a set of standards that ensure rigor and success for our students, and a testing system that accurately measures student achievement relative to peers across the country. We cannot give up on our mission to make Oklahoma public education the model for great student achievement and outcomes.

Thank you for supporting our organization and continuing the mission going forward.
